Culture and Language Preservation

Our language is one of the most important connections we have to our history, our culture, our lands, and to our future as Apache people. I have recently announced my commitment to learning our language. However, I want to give our people the opportunity to become fluent speakers at an early age. Over the past 10 years Language Immersion Schools have been developed in various tribal communities. These schools are designed to preserve language and culture by offering cultural and academic lessons in their native tongue. I believe an Immersion School here in San Carlos would make an excellent addition to our education system as an option for learning. Knowing who we are is the cornerstone for self confidence.
